How to set up a FiveM GTA V Server on CentOS7
Posted by: dmull - 03-06-2019, 12:03 PM - Forum: Game Turorials - No Replies

Please note that it may be a good idea to have some experience with linux as this will help with installation as well as troubleshooting.

We will need to open some ports if the firewall is enabled. I am guessing that you would be running the server on the default port. To do this just run the follow commands

firewall-cmd --permanent --add-port=30120/tcp
firewall-cmd --permanent --add-port=30120/udp
firewall-cmd --reload

If you would rather, you can disable your firewall although it is not recommended. To do this just run these commands
systemctl stop firewalld
systemctl disable firewalld

Things that need to be done before installing and configuring your server to be a FiveM server.
Although I do not normally do this, you may need to set your selinux off during this process. To do this this just run
setenforce 0
Now, on with the rest of the installation process. It is probably a good idea to update your linux server. To do this just run
yum -y update

Also will need further packages. Such as wget(an app to text download files), screen(able to run this to run the FiveM server so can close shell), git(used to get clone of server data), and nano or vim(shell text edtor). To install these, just run
yum -y install wget screen git nano vim

Now we need to make working directories for the FiveM server to function. To do this we would need to run the following commands
cd /home
mkdir FiveM
cd FiveM

Now we will need to make sure that we have the latest artifact. To do this you can visit Latest Artifacts, click on the latest folder, and right click on the fx.tar.xz and copy yhe location. Next, we will use the wget command to download this file to our server. You can run
wget <Link>
Replace <Link> with the location you copied from link above. It should look like this
wget https://runtime.fivem.net/artifacts/fivem/build_proot_linux/master/1056-07194cf7b489d61b1400c516aab75b73eb69068f/fx.tar.xz

Now we need to extract this file. To do so just run
tar xf fx.tar.xz

Next, we will need to get a close of the git repository. To do so, just run the following commands
git clone https://github.com/citizenfx/cfx-server-data.git /home/FiveM/server-data
cd server-data

Now we need to make our server configuration file so that the server has the proper information for the server. You can either use nano or vim to do this.
If you use nano run
nano server.cfg
If you are using vim run
vim server.cfg

You can just copy and paste the text here for your config file.
# you probably don't want to change these!
# only change them if you're using a server with multiple network interfaces
endpoint_add_tcp ""
endpoint_add_udp ""

start mapmanager
start chat
start spawnmanager
start sessionmanager
start fivem
start hardcap
start rconlog
start scoreboard
start playernames

sv_scriptHookAllowed 1

# change this
#rcon_password changeme

sv_hostname "My new FXServer!"

# nested configs!
#exec server_internal.cfg

# loading a server icon (96x96 PNG file)
#load_server_icon myLogo.png

# convars for use from script
set temp_convar "hey world!"

# disable announcing? clear out the master by uncommenting this
#sv_master1 ""

# want to only allow players authenticated with a third-party provider like Steam?
#sv_authMaxVariance 1
#sv_authMinTrust 5

# add system admins
add_ace group.admin command allow # allow all commands
add_ace group.admin command.quit deny # but don't allow quit
add_principal identifier.steam:110000112345678 group.admin # add the admin to the group

# remove the # to hide player endpoints in external log output
#sv_endpointprivacy true

# server slots limit (must be between 1 and 31)
sv_maxclients 30

# license key for server (https://keymaster.fivem.net)
sv_licenseKey changeme

Please note that the last line you will need to change the license key to a key that you already have. If you need one, you can visit FiveM KeyMaster site.
To save the config file just press "Control+X" then "y" then "enter".press “CTRL + X” then “Y” then “Enter”.press “CTRL + X” then “Y” then “Enter”.

Feel free to edit the config file to match your settings. Please keep in mind that if you change ports you will have to forward the proper ports in the firewall for the services to work. Though having incorrect settings will result in the server not running.

Once you have the server.cfg it is time to start the server.
Just run
cd /home/FiveM/server-data
/home/FiveM/run.sh +exec server.cfg

Your server is now online. Please give a few minutes for it to show in the server list on FiveM Client.
